Down the Chimney, Continued...

Mystery Vertical Pipe

What is the reason for this pipe?  It's not the "stack" that the toilet uses.  It runs inside an interior wall we were thinking of getting rid of.  The only thing I've done to this pipe so far is evict some wasps from it...

A Very Busy Kitchen Wall

일석오조입니다!!! 이 벽에 작업하는 아래와같은 5가지 이유 있습니다:
There are at least five reasons for removing the drywall from this wall:

  1. This is the old site of the kitchen sink, so we have to remove the plumbing.
  2. The stove is going on this wall, so we have to put in the electricity.
  3. We're getting natural gas installed (because it's only $25!!!), so I figure we might as well run gas to the spot for the stove, for future considerations.
  4. We're going to add/move an electrical outlet (for the kettle etc.) in the corner of the kitchen.
  5. The bathroom is (largely) out of the scope of this phase of renovations, but see the back of the two bathroom cabinets?  We're going to remove them and put in one big one (I've already bought it, for $20 at the Habitat for Humanity store).  I can do all this from the backside, without disrupting things in the bathroom too much.

I blocked off the hallway under the crawl space with nice thick poly.

Don't piss around!!  I was warned off of those $50 P100 masks, told I wouldn't get enough air without a motor forcing clean air through the filter for me...

I'm wearing my birthday suit underneath!! The Tyvek coveralls are single-use.  On day one, I tore the crotch just before heading into the attic.  I fixed it with duct tape and only caught a few hairs....
